Craig Burnett

Trumpet

Born in 1981, Craig Burnett began playing the trumpet aged 10. After studying under Paul Archibald and Andrew Crowley at the Royal College of Music gaining a BMus (Hons) degree and a distinction for his final recital Craig went on to continue his studies at the Royal Academy of Music which he has now finished doing his postgraduate diploma, which he graduated with a distinction. Craig has been principle trumpet of the major orchestras and ensembles at both institutions and was principle of the Royal Academy Brass Soloists. His teachers at the Royal Academy were Jim Watson, Howard Snell and Mark David. Other teachers over the past 5 years include Paul Beniston, Neil Bruff, Andy Mitchall, Alison Balsom and master classes with Haken Hardenberger, Rod Franks, Ian Balmain and various others.

Craig has performed throughout the world as an orchestral and chamber musician and as a soloist. He is a versatile player and has a keen interest in all genres of music. He is currently principle of Ensemble-Cordiale in the south of France and Charities Philharmonia, which is based in London. Other recent experiences include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, the Royal Opera House, and a recording session for Peter Maxwell-Davies, Brass 10, SE10, to name a but a few.
