Lawrence O'Donell
Scottish bassoonist Lawrence O'Donnell is in his final year on the BMus Course at Guildhall School of Music & Drama studying with Graham Sheen. Lawrence previously studied at the Junior Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where he won the Gilbert Innes Prize for Woodwind.
Lawrence previously played in the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and is currently principal bassoon of Camerata Scotland. Last year, Lawrence travelled to Mumbai to play with the Indian Symphony Orchestra and over New Year he performed Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante on a tour of China with the Amadeus Orchestra. Previous concerto appearances include the Edinburgh International Festival and performances in Estonia with Perth Youth Orchestra. Earlier this year, Lawrence performed the Mozart bassoon concerto with the Guildhall Chamber Orchestra in Italy and the Vivaldi E minor concerto in the Paxos Music Festival, Greece. Next year Lawrence is undertaking a Masters at the Royal College of Music.
