“Sailing by…” Folk, Jazz et la vie Baroque
Une sélection de délices musicaux dans un cadre de concert animé et informel, y compris des performances classiques, folk et jazz, y compris de musiciens du festival: européen, anglais, norvégien et brésilien….
In the first part of the concert, some of our classical soloists perform a mixture of different kinds of music – including jazz, folk and world music.
Among these, a string quartet led by Emma Purslow, violin, will perform ‘Viaggio in Italia’ by Sollima and other works. (Giovanni Sollima (born 24 October 1962 in Sicily) is an Italian composer).
PLUS Torelli: Trumpet concerto with Kayleigh Neff, trumpet. (Giuseppe Torelli ( a somewhat earlier Italian composer, 22 April 1658 – 8 February 1709) was an Italian violist, violinist, teacher, and composer of the middle Baroque era.
followed after the interval by:
Jazz fusion of Scandinavian/Brazilian vibe by Gabriela Garrubo, voice and Peter Søreide guitar
Gabriela Garrubo is a Norwegian-Brazilian jazz singer who studied at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, and in May 2023 she released her debut album “Rodando.”
Together with jazz guitarist Peter Dybvig Søreide she will perform music from her album, and you will experience a balance between modern and retro sounds, blending Scandinavian jazz with influences from 60s and 80s Brazilian music. The lyrics, sung in both English and Portuguese, explore themes of self-discovery and finding strength in a beautiful, yet chaotic and often unjust world. The duo will also perform classic Brazilian music from composers such as Tom Jobim and Joao Gilberto.
